Mallards Continue Busy February with Three-Game Weekend

Moline, IL-The Mallards opened a busy February slate with a pair of home ice victories last weekend. Quad City beat Flint 9-3 on Friday while setting a new season high in goals scored. On Saturday night, the Mallards handed Port Huron a 5-1 defeat.

This weekend, the Mallards head to Bloomington for a Friday night showdown with the PrairieThunder. Saturday night, the team returns to The MARK to face the Flint Generals. Quad City wraps up the week with a Sunday afternoon re-match with the PrairieThunder.

During Sunday's game, Mallards captain Patrick Nadeau is scheduled to assume the top spot on the Mallards All-Time Games Played List. The Vanier, Quebec native has played 435 games in a Mallards sweater entering this weekend.

Mallards Visit to Bishop's Buffet

The Mallards will be at Bishop's Buffet's Southpark Mall location in Moline on Tuesday night from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Mathieu Wathier and Zach Sikich will be on hand to meet fans and sign autographs.

After the game, the Mallards are hosting a post-game party at Old Chicago in Bettendorf. Other Mallards players will be at The MARK for a post-game skate with fans.

Duck Talk is back at The Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge tonight. Mallards Brett Pilkington, Andrei Lupandin and Zach Sikich join host Aaron Roof and Mallards Head Coach Brian Curran. The show begins at 6:00 p.m. at The Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge. Duck Talk can also be heard on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230.

Friday, February 2nd - Flint 3 at Quad City 9

The Mallards set a new season high with nine goals in a 9-3 victory over Flint on Friday night at The MARK. Justin Chwedoruk recorded his first hat trick of the year in the win. Quad City jumped out to a 2-0 lead on first period power-play goals by Andrei Lupandin and Patrick Nadeau. The Generals sliced the Mallards lead in half on a late tally by Jeff Zehr. In the second, Quad City took control of the contest with four unanswered goals. Luke Stauffacher, Justin Chwedoruk and Travis Granbois all scored before Patrick Nadeau netted his second of the night at 16:39 of the middle frame. The Mallards began the third period holding a 6-1 edge. Jordan Fox scored the second Flint goal just under three minutes into the final frame. Fox's goal was followed by another trio of Mallards markers as Chwedoruk sandwiched a pair of goals around a Stauffacher tally. Stauffacher's third period goal was his third shorthanded tally of the season. Flint's Terry Marchant added one more to his team's cause with 5:36 left in the game to set the final at 9-3.

Saturday, February 3rd - Port Huron 1 at Quad City 5

The Mallards earned a 5-1 win over the Flags on Saturday night after falling behind 1-0 after one period. Flags forward Mark Cadotte netted his seventh goal of the year with 1:59 left in the opening period to give Port Huron a 1-0 lead. In the second period, the Mallards stormed back on the strength of three unanswered goals. Nick Harloff scored with 4:42 gone in the middle period. Sergei Durdin gave the Mallards the lead at 2-1 with his fifth goal of the year at 12:03 of the frame. Justin Chwedoruk netted the third Mallards goal of the second period. It marked Chwedoruk's fourth marker of the weekend. In the third period, the Mallards extended their lead to 5-1 on early period goals by Brett Pilkington and Luke Stauffacher.

Player of the Week

Justin Chwedoruk is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. He recorded a hat trick and an assist on Friday night vs. Flint. He followed up that performance with a four-point night (a goal and three assists) on Saturday vs. Port Huron.

Goalie of the Week

Jason Tapp is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He made 34 saves in earning his 17th win of the year on Friday night. On Saturday vs. Port Huron, he stopped 33 shots in a 5-1 victory over the Flags.
