Calgary Hitmen News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen were back at the Scotiabank Saddledome hosting the Edmonton Oil Kings for the Bret "The Hitman" Hart game. Calgary wore a special pink jersey that payed tribute to their namesake Bret Hart.

Edmonton kicked things off early with Dylan Guenther and Josh Sourdif both finding the back of the net at the 1:10 and the 8:30 marks of the first period. The next tally came from Josh Luypen at the beginning of the second. Guenther would tally his second of the game to extend their lead to four in the third period while the fifth and sixth Edmonton goals both came from Josh Williams. Calgary's lone goal came from Carter Yakemchuk, unassisted, with just under three minutes left in the game. Edmonton swept the home-and-home set, winning this afternoon's game by a score of 6-1.

Fans were encouraged to stick around post-game to witness "Battle at the Dome II" featuring five wrestling matches in an on-ice ring put on by the Hitmen and PWA (Prairie Wrestling Alliance). The game worn and game issued Bret "Hitman" Hart jerseys will be sold in an online auction (elevateauctions.com/BretHart) with net proceeds to benefit the Prostate Cancer Centre. The Hitmen now open a season long eight game road trip on Tuesday, Mar. 8 in Winnipeg. The swing will also take them to Brandon (Mar. 9), Moose Jaw (Mar. 11), Regina (Mar. 12), Winnipeg (Mar. 15), Brandon (Mar. 16), Edmonton (Mar. 18) and Medicine Hat (Mar. 26).
