Portland Winterhawks News Release

Portland, Ore. - Taylor Gauthier stopped 47 shots and James Stefan tallied three points as the Winterhawks roared back from a 2-0 deficit to take a 4-2 win on the road over the Everett Silvertips on Friday night.

The game was all Silvertips to start as the hosts quickly raced out to a healthy shot advantage. Their breakthrough came at 6:07 as Alex Swetlikoff raced in and fired a low shot five-hold for his 24th of the year. Following a five-minute penalty assessed to Portland's Kurtis Smythe, Jackson Berezowski doubled Everett's advantage at 16:01 as the Silvertips continued to dominate the period.

But as the second period opened up, Portland began to build a game and finally got on the board at 13:41 when James Stefan ripped home his 29th of the season. Stefan collected the puck below the goal line, spun his body into a shooting position and unleashed a laser over the shoulder of Koen MacInnes. Five minutes later, it was Cross Hanas' turn on the power play as he picked up #20 on the year to knot things up at two heading into the final frame.

Both teams traded chances in the third, but Robbie Fromm-Delorme grabbed the deciding tally at 11:37 as he corralled a bouncing puck and spun a shot under the leg of MacInnes for Portland's first lead of the night. Stefan's second of the game and 30th of the year iced the game in the final minute as the Hawks picked up their fourth straight win over the Silvertips.

Gauthier's busy night marked his second Winterhawks victory with 45 or more saves and his 14th win in 15 Portland appearances.

The Winterhawks head home now to take on the Tri-City Americans at the VMC on Saturday. Puck drop is set for 6:00 P.M.
