Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats battled neck-and-neck with the Red Deer Rebels on Friday night at the Brandt Centre, but couldn't find the equalizer in the third period and lost 3-2 in regulation.
It was a low-event game, with just 53 combined shots on goal between the two teams and seven combined power plays.
Scoring for the Pats were Stanislav Svozil, who kept his hot play going, and Tye Spencer, who got the monkey off the back with his first goal in 10 games. Connor Bedard picked up an assist on Spencer's goal, stretching his point streak to 14 games, during which he has scored 13 goals and added 16 assists for 29 points.
Kalen Lind found the back of the net twice for the Rebels and was named the game's first star, while Christoffer Sedoff had a pair of assists for Red Deer.
The shots on goal in the contest favoured the Rebels 29-24. The Pats went 0-for-4 on the power play, while Red Deer went 1-for-3.
With Lethbridge and Calgary both losing on Friday, the Pats are still just four points out of the 7th and 8th-placed spots in the Eastern Conference, currently held by Calgary (47 points) and Swift Current (47 points). The Broncos did not play Friday. Prince Albert won and are now tied with the Pats with 43 points.
THE GOALS
1st Period
RD 1-0 at 18:31 - Talon Brigley (4), assisted by Dallon Melin and Frantisek Formane // Brigley got a pass from Melin from the right corner to the high slot, and quickly fired it past the glove of Sim to open the scoring late in the first period.
2nd Period
REG 1-1 at 6:25 - Stanislav Svozil (9), assisted by Jakob Brook and Zane Rowan // Svozil tried to get a shot through from the point that was blocked by Lind, but he got the puck right back and fired it home, giving him five goals in his last seven games.
RD 2-1 at 11:02 - Kalan Lind (12), assisted by Ben King and Christoffer Sedoff (PPG) // On a Rebels power play, Sim slipped in the crease, allowing King's shot to ricochet off Lind and into the yawning cage.
RD 3-1 at 12:25 - Kalan Lind (13), assisted by Talon Brigley and Christoffer Sedoff // Under two minutes later, Lind poked home his second of the game.
3rd Period
REG 2-3 at 14:03 - Tye Spencer (5), assisted by Connor Bedard // Jace Weir's stick broke as he was trying an outlet pass for the Rebels from behind his net, which gave the puck cleanly to Bedard. Bedard tried to quickly fire a shot, so he instead fed a pass across to Spencer in front, who one-timed it home.

THEY SAID IT
Pats Assistant Coach Brad Herauf: "I'm supper proud of our boys and the way they battled. I cant ask for much more. The goals that went in beside that first goal where there was a little breakdown, and the third one was a playoff style goal. The way Drew [Sim] played in the third period, especially those first five minutes really held us in it. The last 10 minutes we had our push and we played playoff style hockey. I'm disappointed, as this has been a theme against these good teams, but we're right there."
3 STARS
Kalen Lind - RD: 2G, 3 SOG
Stanislav Svozil - REG: 1G, 5 SOG
Christoffer Sedoff - RD: 2A, 4 SOG
