Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats allowed three power plays goals, including the game-winner, in their 5-4 overtime loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes on home ice on Saturday night.
Hurricanes forward Justin Hall scored the overtime winner on the man advantage 1:50 into the extra frame to give the visitors the extra point. Jett Jones netted two goals for Lethbridge, with Corson Hopwo and Ty Nash scoring the other goals.
For the Pats, the line of Connor Bedard, Tanner Howe and Tye Spencer combined for three goals - one each. Braxton Whitehead also potted a goal at even-strength.
While the Pats three power play goals against was the biggest reason for the defeat, another contributing factor was their own power play, which went 0-for-7.
Bedard did increase his point streak to 15 games with another two points. He has 31 points (14G-17A) during that span.
The shots on goal in the contest favoured the Pats 35-27.
By picking up a point, the Pats are now just three points out of the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, currently held by Calgary (47 points). The Broncos lost to Medicine Hat on Friday. However, the Pats were passed by Prince Albert, who beat Winnipeg.

THEY SAID IT
Pats Assistant Coach Brad Herauf: "I thought 5-on-5 we carried the play for most of the time. I thought a lot of those power pays we were working for them - we got the power plays through our work, but as soon as we got the power play, we stopped working. They completely out-willed us on their penalty kill. They were blocking shots, they were hungrier than us. We had guys standing around watching, thinking it was going to be an easy game because of 5-on-5 was going our way. We completely took our foot off the pedal and that hurt us...I just think it's karma. We didn't deserve it. Flat out. They were outworking us. Yeah we had chances, yeah we had a couple good looks, but it's not going to go in when it's a bad shot here, a ricochet there, we have to work for those opportunities and tonight we were outworked."
3 STARS
Justin Hall - LET: OT Winner, 2 SOG
Jett Jones - LET: 2G, 3 SOG
Tye Spencer - REG: 1G, 1A, 5 SOG
