Chris Heisey has hit 117 home runs in his professional career, but he saved his first ever walk-off blast to introduce himself to his new Bisons teammates.

Signed by the Blue Jays just hours before the Herd's doubleheader against the Rochester Red Wings, Heisey homered with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Buffalo a 2-1 game two victory over their closest rival, Thursday afternoon from Coca-Cola Field. The win give the Bisons a much needed split of the twinbill after Rochester won the day's first contest, 3-0.

Heisey's home run was just the second hit for the Bisons in game two of their doubleheader. Rochester reliever Mark Hamburger attempted to quick-pitch the former Reds slugger with a 2-1 fastball. The pitch leaked over the plate and Heisey turned on it, clearing the left field wall for the game winner.

Heisey, who played five seasons with the Reds from 2010-2014, has spent most of the summer in the Dodgers system, but after three promotions to Los Angeles from Triple-A Oklahoma City, he was designated for assignment. The Blue Jays flew him into town on Wednesday night, he took his physical Thursday morning and by Thursday afternoon he helped the Herd to their 62nd win of the season.

The only other hit the Bisons had in game two was a key one. Dalton Pompey singled to lead off the fourth and then stole both second and third base without a throw. Matt Hague followed with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at one.

Phillippe Aumont struck out eight over six innings in his best outing as a Bison. The win went to Ryan Tepera in relief as the righty struck out two in a scoreless inning of work.

Buffalo was held to just six hits in the afternoon's game one defeat. Pat Dean came two outs away from a complete game shutout, working two batters into the seventh for his ninth win of the season. Michael Tonkin got flyball outs from Josh Thole and pinch hitting George Kottaras to end the game.

The only player in game one to drive in runs wasn't even in the starting lineup. Rochester's Xavier Avery came in as a pinch runner in the first inning for Oswaldo Arcia, who couldn't continue after being hit in the right knee cap by a Jeff Francis offering. Avery singled home Byron Buxton in the third inning and hit a two-run homer into the second tier of the Heron's Landing Party Deck for his third blast of the season.

Francis (5-1) suffered his first defeat of 2015, despite another quality start. Only two of the runs the southpaw allowed over six innings were earned. He struck out four.

BISONS NOTES

To make room for Chris Heisey on the roster, the Bisons placed Luke Scott on the disabled list, retroactive to August 12...Matt Hague's RBI in the second game of the doubleheader was his league-leading 81st of the season...Dalton Pompey had a hit in each game and is now hitting .283 for the Bisons. His two stolen bases were his 13th and 14th of the season.
