Offense Can't Back Weber's Gem in Indianapolis
August 13, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release
Thursday night in Indianapolis the Mud Hens couldn't muster up any offense and dropped the series finale. Taking on the Indians, Toledo got a solid showing from their pitching staff, but they weren't able to put up any runs and lost 3-0. Thad Weber pitched another quality start, and despite lowering his ERA to 3.84, dropped his record to 6-9.
Weber made his team leading 23rd start of the season for the Hens, and pitched another beauty. The Indians were not able to get to him until the fourth inning when they scored on a ground out off the bat of Tony Sanchez. In the sixth inning, back-to-back doubles from Josh Bell and Jeff Bowker produced Indy's second run of the day, but that was all Weber would allow. Weber was able to deal his way through seven innings while striking out four batters.
The offense of the Mud Hens was nowhere to be found on Thursday night, tallying only five hits. Mike Hessman had his seven game hitting streak snapped, but found a way to get on base via the walk. After giving up a run in the eighth inning, Ian Krol came on in relief of Alberto Cabrera with two outs, and struck out the only batter he faced.
The Mud Hens return home on Friday to take on the Charlotte Knights at 7 p.m.
