Shuck Set to Rehab with Knights Starting Tonight

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Chicago White Sox outfielder J.B. Shuck, who was placed on the team's 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain on August 1, will begin a major league rehab assignment with the Charlotte Knights at BB&T Ballpark starting tonight. Shuck, 28, was claimed off waivers by the White Sox back on November 3, 2014 from the Cleveland Indians.

A native of Westerville, OH, Shuck is hitting .278 (27-for-97) with eight runs scored, six doubles, one triple, and 11 RBIs in 54 games with Chicago this season. Originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the sixth round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, Shuck is a career .266 hitter over parts of four seasons at the major league level. He played a career-high 129 games with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2013 and hit .293 (128-for-437) with 60 runs scored, 20 doubles, three triples, two home runs, and 39 RBIs.

The Charlotte Knights and Gwinnett Braves will conclude their four-game series from BB&T Ballpark at 7:05 p.m. tonight. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and it's Thirsty Thursday presented by Hickory Tavern. Professional wrestler Tessa Blanchard, daughter of Four Horsemen legend Tully Blanchard, will throw out tonight's ceremonial first pitch.
