The Bulls play the final game of four straight contests against the Norfolk Tides, and the second of two games the DBAP. The Tides have taken two of the first three games of the home-and-home series, and Durham is 5-8 over its last 13 games, and is just 10-18 since the All-Star break. The Bulls have dropped 34 of their last 52 contests to go from a 2.0-game lead in the IL South to a 10.5-game deficit. Norfolk - the Baltimore Orioles' top affiliate - is 4-6 over its last 10, but still enters today with the 2nd-best record in the IL behind Indianapolis (69-49), and leads the IL South by 4.0 games over Gwinnett.
