Heat Sign Swedish Netminder Owuya to Pro Tryout

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Heat, proudly owned by the NHL's Calgary Flames, sign goaltender Mark Owuya to a pro tryout contract.

Owuya (Oh-wu-yuh), 26, signs his second pro tryout in the AHL this season after initially signing with the Lake Erie Monsters in January. This season, the Stockholm, Sweden native has suited up in 11 games with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL, posting a 5-5-1 record with a 2.78 goals-against-average and a .914 save-percentage.

Owuya has played pro hockey in his home country, 13 games in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League, has played 30 AHL games with the Toronto Marlies to go along with 43 games in the ECHL, including a Kelly Cup Victory with the Reading Royals in 2012-13.

The Heat complete their four-game homestand tonight against the Iowa Wild for Aaron Johnson bobblehead night. The first 500 kids 12-years-old and younger in the building will receive a commemorative bobblehead featuring the Heat's first ever team captain in the black alternate jerseys.
