
Monsters Stumble, Fall to Moose 4-0

CLEVELAND - In the seventh of eight meetings between the two teams this season, Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters were defeated by the Manitoba Moose on Friday at The Q by a final score of 4-0. With the loss, the Monsters fell to 33-20-5-5 overall this season and with a .603 points percentage, remain alone in fourth place in the AHL's Central Division standings.
The Moose grabbed a 1-0 lead on Friday with the first period's lone score, an even-strength marker for Dan DeSalvo at 6:03. In the middle frame, Manitoba extended their edge at 16:04 with a five-on-five tally by Brendan Kichton to take a 2-0 advantage into the final stanza. Two third period goals, from Darren Kramer at 11:20 at even-strength and a Julian Melchiori empty-netter at 17:29, capped the scoring for the Moose and delivered Manitoba a 4-0 victory.
Joonas Korpisalo stopped 19 of the 22 pucks he faced in defeat on Friday to fall to 6-7-2 in net for the Monsters this season while Moose net-minder Connor Hellebuyck earned the win for Manitoba by virtue of a 36-save shutout performance.
