Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY - B-Mets starter Matt Harvey was tagged for seven runs on six hits, including two home runs in a rain-shortened 7-0 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs tonight at NYSEG Stadium.

The Sea Dogs wasted little time to jump on the seventh overall pick in last year's draft. Jeremy Hazelbaker led off the game by rolling a ground ball to short that Jordany Valdespin played into an infield single.

Hazelbaker moved into scoring position on his team-leading 15th stolen base of the year and was brought home on Chih-Hsien Chiang's 27th double of the season. It was his 59th RBI of the year.

Three batters later, Reynaldo Rodriguez kicked the lead to four on a three-run home run to right field. Rodriguez added a two-run homer off Harvey to cap a three-run third inning for Portland.

The B-Mets could not solve Sea Dogs starter Brock Huntzinger. In his second start against the B-Mets, the right-hander tossed five shutout innings and allowed just two hits. He racked up eight strike outs, one shy of his career-high, en route to his fifth win.

Binghamton's only bright spot came from reliever John Lujan. Back from a two-month stint with the Buffalo Bisons, Lujan allowed one hit over three scoreless innings.

As the rain fell in the sixth, Cesar Cabral worked around a two-out double from Salomon Manriquez to keep the B-Mets off the board. After Raul Reyes struck out to end the frame, the tarp was pulled on the field. After a 78-minute delay, the contest was called.

The B-Mets (30-55) finish their five-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs tomorrow at 1:05pm. RHP Brandon Moore (5-7, 4.32) will toe the rubber against RHP Stolmy Pimentel (0-8, 9.00). The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show begins at 12:50pm on ESPN 1360 WYOS.
