Akron RubberDucks News Release

AKRON, OH - The Eastern League, in conjunction with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, today announced that Akron Aeros pitcher Cory Burns has been added to the Western Division roster for the Northeast Delta Dental Eastern League All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 13 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, NH.

The right-handed reliever leads the Eastern League in saves (22) and games finished (33). His 33 relief appearances rank him second in the league.

Burns joins right-handed pitcher Austin Adams and shortstop Juan Diaz as those who will represent the Aeros on the Western Division's all-star roster. Catcher Chun Chen was also an all-star selection, but will not participate due to injury.

This is Burns second mid-summer all-star game selection as a Cleveland Indians farmhand. He was selected to the New York-Penn League All-Star team in 2009, while with Short Season Single-A Mahoning Valley.

Burns was also named to the Carolina League postseason All-Star team last season at High-A Kinston.

Burns will replace Bowie's Pedro Viola, who was promoted to the Baltimore Orioles.

See Cory Burns, and the rest of the Akron Aeros, in action this weekend at Canal Park!
