Harrisburg Senators News Release

On Wednesday night at Metro Bank Park, the Senators scored early and hung on late for a 4-3 win over Erie. Shairon Martis pitched seven strong innings for his sixth win. Archie Gilbert had the big hit of the night, a two-run double to left in the fourth inning to give the Sens a 4-0 lead.

Martis allowed just four hits and struck out six in lowering his ERA to 2.68. Pat McCoy pitched the seventh and allowed a two-run home run before turning the game over to Rafael Martin. Martin earned his third save, pitching around a two-out and striking Michael Bertram to end the game.

Bryce Harper had three hits and an RBI for the Senators, his second multi-hit game since being promoted to Harrisburg on Monday.

The Senators have won seven straight at Metro Bank Park, three in a row over Erie this week, and are now 50-34 on the season. They are 16 games over .500 for the first time since they finished the 2002 season at 79-63.

The Senators and Erie SeaWolves end their four-game series on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. with RH Chien-Ming Wang making a rehab start for the Sens. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
