Portland Sea Dogs News Release
Portland, Maine - Tres Barrera hit a sac fly in the top of the 10th and the Harrisburg Senators (15-18) beat the Sea Dogs (16-19) 1-0 in the series opener on Thursday night at Hadlock Field.
With Adrian Sanchez as the automatic runner on second to begin the 10th, Drew Ward grounded out to advance him to third base before Barrera picked up the game-winning RBI.
In the bottom of the 10th, Portland was able to advance auto-runner Jhon Nunez from second to third, but Nunez was thrown out at home by first baseman Ian Sagdal on a chopper to first to prevent him from scoring.
Jordan Mills (W, 3-1) earned the victory with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. Aaron Barrett (S, 22) earned the save by retiring CJ Chatham to end the ballgame.
Matthew Gorst (L, 1-6) was the losing pitcher despite pitching a perfect 10th.
Daniel McGrath worked another gem for the Sea Dogs. The southpaw went eight scoreless frames on just two hits with a walk and six strikeouts. He retired the first 10 batters he faced and 14 of the last 15.
McGrath tied a career-high and Sea Dogs' season-high with eight innings and extended his streak to 46.0 innings without allowing an earned run.
Andrew Lee was also excellent for Harrisburg. He worked six scoreless on four hits, two walks, and four strikeouts.
