Manchester, NH - Justin Dillon tossed six shutout innings and the Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) exploded offensively in a 9-1 win over the first-place Reading Fightin Phils (Philadelphia Phillies) in the opener of a five-game series on Thursday at Delta Dental Stadium.

The Fisher Cats took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The rally started with a bunt single by Forrest Wall. A base hit by Nash Knight and a double by Chad Spanberger brought home Wall with the game's first run.

With two outs in the bottom of the third inning, seven consecutive Fisher Cats reached safely, and all scored. The lead grew to 8-0 with Wall's ninth home run of the season. Kevin Smith knocked in the first run with a single, Christian Williams had a two-run single and Logan Warmoth ripped a two-run double down the left field line.

Smith added a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning as New Hampshire opened a 9-0 lead.

Dillon (W, 3-2) left after six shutout innings. He worked around three walks and four hits with six strikeouts, and improved to 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in his last three outings.

Danny Young tossed 1.1 scoreless innings of relief, and Dany Jimenez struck out three batters in 1.2 frames, although Josh Stephen hit a solo homer in the ninth inning to break up the shutout.

Wall, Warmoth, Knight, and Vinny Capra each recorded two hits for New Hampshire.

The Fisher Cats and Fightin Phils meet again on Friday at 7:05 p.m. at Delta Dental Stadium. The Human Cannonball will be part of this magical night, featuring David 'The Bullet' Smith. We also celebrate Christmas in July, with the first 1,000 fans in attendance taking home our first-ever Fungo Snow Globe courtesy of Northeast Delta Dental.
