Utah Grizzlies News Release

Stockton, California - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie announced today that the team has signed Jake Riddle, who's rights were acquired earlier today from the Phoenix RoadRunners in exchange for financial considerations.

A 2001 draft pick (8th round, 239th overall) of the Minnesota Wild, Riddle played 51 games last year with Phoenix; tallying 10 goals, 8 assists and 190 penalty minutes. In addition, in 2005-2006, the 6-foot-1 Minnesota native spent 12 games with Augusta of the ECHL and six games with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

Christie coached Riddle for 44 games during the 2004-2005 season with Peoria. During that season, he scored 12 goals and added 14 assists along with 110 penalty minutes.

Riddle, a third-year pro, has played 125 professional games total: 119 in the ECHL and six in the AHL.

He is expected to be in the lineup tonight when Utah visits Stockton at 8:30 p.m. Utah will be going for their second-straight win, following a 3-2 victory Thursday in Phoenix.

This is the third trade completed in the last 15 days by Christie. The first two have produced instant success. Brendan Cook, acquired November 17 from Pensacola, has three goals and three assists in the last four games. Danny Stewart, acquired November 24 from Bakersfield, has one goal (game-winning goal, November 30 at Phoenix) and one assist in three games.

Utah returns home Wednesday, December 13th hosting Idaho at 7:05 p.m.
