Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (12-7-0) ended their brief three-game home stand with a 3-0 loss at the hands of the Texas Wildcatters (13-3-2) as goaltender Miroslav Kopriva stopped all 35 Florida shots to earn his first shutout of the season.
The Wildcatters tabbed a goal in each period en-route to spoiling the Everblades annual "Teddy Bear Toss." Mike Bayrack collected two of the three Texas goals scoring the first goal of the night at 14:33 while the Wildcatters enjoyed a 5-on-3 power play. Olivier Proulx gave the Wildcatters a 2-0 lead midway through the second period when he lifted a rebound from Everblades goaltender Craig Kowalski under the crossbar at 8:54.
Bayrack closed out the scoring after blocking a shot and heading in on a breakaway with the teams skating at 4-on-4. Bayrack's 12th goal of the season came with 4:12 remaining in regulation and allowed Texas to end their two-week road trip with a 6-1-0 record.
Kowalski took the loss in net for the Everblades allowing the three goals on 35 Texas shots which dropped his record to 6-5-0. Kopriva increased his record to 3-0-0 with the win.
The Florida Everblades, proud affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers, return to the ice on Friday, December 8 when they travel to Pensacola to take on the Ice Pilots at 8:05 p.m. from the Pensacola Civic Center.
