Toledo vs. Trenton
For a second consecutive night the Toledo Storm power play turned the light
on early, as Ken Magowan finished off a 5 on 3-man advantage with his 5th
goal of the season. Chris Blight started the play with a pass to Jeff Attard
in the low rim of the left circle, which in turn fed the puck across the
goalmouth to Magowan. Unlike last night, Toledo was able to carry the lead
through the first period 1-0. In the second period, Toledo accomplished exactly what it did a night ago as
Mike Berry gave Toledo a 2-0 lead at 7:13 of the second period. Matt Zultek
started the play with an intercept at center. Zultek fed Richard Colwill who
carried the puck over the Trenton blue line. Colwill made a picture perfect
pass to Berry, who beat Trenton netminder Joel Martin for his 4th goal of
the year. Trenton closed the gap near the end of the second period as Mike
Pandolfo scored on a breakaway for his 12th goal of the season. Pandolfo
intercepted a Matt Zultek pass at the Trenton blue line and was off to
races. He beat Storm goaltender Stefan Liv between the pads. Mike Walsh gave Toledo some breathing room with his 3rd goal of the season
at 8:29 of the third period. Walsh, who has scored goals in back to back
games for the Storm, skated into the left circle and blew a shot between
Joel Martin's pads to give the Storm a 3-1 lead. Mike Berry added an empty
net goal with just a minute left to seal the win for the Storm. Stefan Liv (1-1-0) made his second consecutive start for the Storm and made
36 saves to collect his first Toledo Storm win. Toledo is 8-2-0 when
scoring the first goal of the season. Toledo was denied on its second
penalty shot of the year at 3:32 of the second period. Mike Walsh had the
chance and was stopped by Joel Martin. The Storm power play has scored a
goal in three consecutive games. The Storm and the Titans will meet again Sunday afternoon, the puck drops at
4:00pm. You can hear all the action LIVE on 1520 AM Jams beginning 15
minutes prior to each game! The Storm will return to Toledo Sports Arena on
