Grizzlies Shutout By Mighty Ducks

Cincinnati * The Utah Grizzlies suffered their worst loss of the season on Wednesday night when they fell 6-0 to the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks in front of 4,020 fans at the Cincinnati Gardens. The loss was the first shutout of the season against the Grizzlies and came after Utah shutout its first opponent in their last game on Sunday (1-0 victory over Worcester).

Cincinnati's Tony Martensson scored a goal and had two assists, while Keith Aucoin and Michael Holmqvist each scored a goal and had a helper leading the way for Cincinnati who snapped a three-game losing streak. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped all 23 Utah shots earning his fourth shutout of the season.

For Utah, their best scoring chances came early in the game when Jarrod Skalde and Dylan Gyori each had great chances on re-directions against Bryzgalov. Gyori was playing in his 300th professional game. Utah goaltender Jason Bacashihua was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals on 12 shots. The loss dropped Bacashihua to 3-8-1 on the season. Mike Smith replaced Bacashihua and he allowed two goals on 15 shots.

The game turned physical near the end as Mike Sgroi, Dan Jancevski and Warren Peters were all shown the dressing room early.

Cam Severson, Alexei Smirnov and Nick Smith also scored for the Ducks.

The teams will meet again on Friday night in Cincinnati with face-off scheduled for 5:35 PM (mst).
