LOOKING AHEAD:
First place in the Atlantic Division is up for grabs on Wednesday as Hartford hosts Manchester (7:05 ET). The teams enter play tied with 23 points each, and the Monarchs are 8-1-1-1 since a 2-0 loss to the Wolf Pack on Oct. 25. Rookie Noah Clarke, a former All-American at Colorado College, scored three times in the third period of Manchester's last outing, a 5-2 win over Springfield on Sunday. Hartford, meanwhile, started the year with a point in 12 straight contests, but is 1-3-1-0 since, including a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Monarchs on Nov. 14. Jason LaBarbera is 4-0-3 at the Hartford Civic Center this year and unbeaten in his last seven decisions (5-0-2) overall.
Grand Rapids and Chicago face off in the front end of a home-and-home at the Allstate Arena on Wednesday night (7:00 CT, 8:00 ET). The Wolves own a one-point lead over the rival Griffins atop the West Division, and the teams have split their first two meetings of the season, each posting a one-goal victory. Chicago, returning home after a successful 4-1-2-1 road trip, has been led by Brian Swanson, who has six goals in six games after scoring once in his first 12. Grand Rapids' Joey MacDonald is 15-3-1 on the road in his AHL career (including playoffs), but 0-2-0 in Chicago.
On Oct. 19, previously-winless Bridgeport posted a 1-0 win over previously-unbeaten Binghamton, turning the fortunes of both clubs. Now winners of six in a row and unbeaten in 10, the Sound Tigers streak into town for the traditional Thanksgiving night game at the Broome County Arena (6:05 ET). The Senators have been playing .500 hockey since their 5-0-0 start, while Bridgeport has been the hottest team in the AHL, not allowing more than two goals in any of the last 10 contests and outscoring the opposition 35-14 during the current 9-0-1 streak, which has also seen Jeff Hamilton score nine times and Brandon Smith register a plus-13 rating. The B-Sens have lost their last seven one-goal decisions, including a 2-1 defeat in Bridgeport on Sunday.
