
Sjostrom Recalled by Coyotes

Springfield, MA â The Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that right wing Fredrik Sjostrom (SHOO-strahm) has been recalled by the Phoenix Coyotes. The Falcons also announced that the club has called up left wing Matt Zultek from the Trenton Titans of the ECHL.
Sjostrom, 20, has collected seven points (0g, 7a) in 17 games with the Falcons this season. His seven assists are tied for second most on the club. Four of Sjostrom's helpers this season have come on game-winning goals.
Sjostrom was selected with the Coyotes' first selection (11th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. The Fargelanda, Sweden native led the Calgary Hitmen (WHL) in goals (34), assists (43), and points (77) last season.
Sjostrom will join the Coyotes in time for the club's next game versus the Los Angeles Kings at America West Arena in Phoenix on Thursday.
Zultek, 24, ranks third in the ECHL in goal-scoring with 11 markers in 14 games this season. The 6'4", 210-pound forward leads Trenton in goals and shares the team lead in points with 14. Zultek also leads the Titans in penalty minutes with 72 this season.
Zultek is in his fourth season as a professional. A native of Mississauga, Ontario, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the first round (15th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft and by the Boston Bruins in the second round (56th overall) in 1999.
Zultek will join the Falcons in time for the club's game against the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin' Donut Center tonight. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Tune into The ZONE - Sports Radio 640 to catch the live action described by Falcons play-by-play voice, Marc Shelanski. The pre-game show begins at 6:35 p.m.
Following Friday's road contest versus the Worcester IceCats, the Falcons will return to the home ice of the Springfield Civic Center for home games on Saturday evening and Sunday. The Falcons will face the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins beginning at 7:35 p.m. on Saturday. The club will take on the Lowell Lock Monsters at The Nest on Sunday starting at 4:05 p.m. Sunday marks the second WMAS Family Night of the season.
