Grizzlies Play Last Regular Season Home Game Tonight at the E-Center
April 7, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City - The Utah Grizzlies will play their last home game of the regular season at 'E' Center tonight when they face the Milwaukee Admirals with a 7:05 pm (mst) face-off. The Grizzlies will try to defend the season's perfect Wednesday home record (6-0) while clinging to the hope of a playoff berth. Milwaukee has won six of the nine meetings thus far between the two clubs.
The Grizzlies (26-40-6-5) have lost two straight games and have just two games, both on the road, remaining in the regular season. Utah must win tonight to keep any hope alive of catching Cincinnati in the division standings and claim a playoff spot. However, Cincinnati only needs one point in their final three games to squelch the Grizzlies' hopes.
Milwaukee is coming off a 3-2 loss at home to San Antonio last night. The Admirals have had a potent offense all season leading the AHL in points and goals per game (3.35). Mathieu Darche has been racking up the points lately scoring at least one point in his last five games. In addition, defenseman Curtis Murphy leads the league with a +38 rating and was recently named a member of the All AHL First Team All-Stars. Rookie Timofei Shiskanov was named a member of the All-Rookie Team and Coahc Claude Noel was named the AHL Coach of the Year.
The Grizzlies will head out on their final road trip of the season following tonight's contest. Cleveland and San Antonio await Utah this weekend.
