Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY – With 17 sellouts in the club's first 38 home dates this season, the Binghamton Senators are two sellouts shy of setting a new city of Binghamton AHL attendance record. With 57 wins, the record setting 1992-93 Binghamton Rangers played before 18 capacity crowds at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

The Senators can tie that mark with a full house in either of this weekend's contests when they host the Norfolk Admirals Friday and the Rochester Americans Saturday. Sellouts for both games this weekend would result in a new AHL standard amongst the four AHL franchises that have called Binghamton their home.

As of Wednesday morning, approximately 1,000 tickets were available for Friday's game with the Norfolk and 425 remained for Saturday's regular season finale against Rochester. Game time both nights is 7:05 p.m.

Community support for the Senators has been overwhelming since the return of the American Hockey League to the Southern Tier nearly two years ago. The team averaged 4,038 fans per game (88% capacity) in its inaugural campaign last season and support has swelled to 4,344 fans per opening (92% capacity) during the 2003-04 season.

Friday's battle against the Norfolk Admirals is ICS/Manley's Mighty Mart CheerStix Night at the Arena with the first 2,500 fans receiving a pair of cheerstix to root on the B-Sens in pursuit of a playoff berth. The Sens and Admirals are separated by just one point in the East Division standings and Friday's game is a rematch of last weekend's two-game set in Norfolk where each club posted a win.

Following the game, it's the Annual Awards Night ceremony. Team awards will presented by the Binghamton Senators' ownership group in honor of this season's accomplishments.

Saturday night, the Rochester Americans provide the opposition in the regular season finale. Prior to the game (4 p.m. – 6 p.m.), the B-Sens will hold an outdoor block party on the Stuart Street side of the Arena featuring activities for the young and young at heart. During that night's Sens-Amerks contest, Fan Appreciation Night will be a night filled with numerous prize giveaways from local businesses and a visit by the 2004 Binghamton Mets baseball team on the concourse.

Following the game, the Jack Sherman Toyota Luckey Key Contest will take place between the 40 in-season winners of the Chuck-A-Puck Contest. Contestants will randomly draw keys and attempt to start the 2004 Toyota vehicle on ice. The person whose key starts the car wins the vehicle courtesy of Jack Sherman Toyota.

Tickets for this weekend's games are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets, the Center Ice Team Shop at Metrocenter, the Arena box office, the Sens executive offices – 3rd floor of the Arena, or by calling the Sens Hotline at 722-SENS (7367).
