GAME NOTES: Tonight's intra-divisional contest against the Chicago Wolves is the sixth game of a seven-game road trip, while marking the 10th game that San Antonio will play within a 13-game/17-day span which began on Fri., Mar. 26...The Rampage (29-39-8-0; 66 pts) are 6th in the West Division and trail Cincinnati, who hold the fifth and final playoff spot, by three points in the standings with 4 games remaining in the regular season...San Antonio has one game in hand on Chicago, who've already clinched a playoff bid with their 40-25-9-3; 92 pts record ...The Rampage are 13-22-3-0 on the road this season and 3-2-0-0 in their last five games on the road...Following tonight's game, the Rampage will travel to Grand Rapids to play the Griffins Friday night before returning to the SBC Center for their final two regular season home games...
VS. CHICAGO: Tonight's match-up is the third individual trip to the Allstate Arena in a week for the Rampage, while marking the 10th and final meeting of the regular season between the two clubs...San Antonio is winless against the Wolves in their last four meetings (0-2-2), with their last match ending in a 4-2 loss at Allstate Arena last Sunday (Apr. 4)...The Rampage picked up at least a point (3 of 4 total) in Chicago in their first two trips of the season with a 1-0-1-0 record, including their only win on Feb. 4...San Antonio is 2-4-3-0 overall this season, while going 6-9-4-0 against the Wolves since the Rampage joined the AHL last season...The Rampage are 20-29-7-0 against West Division teams this season, while Chicago is 30-18-7-2 against West Division opponents
PLAYOFF HUNT: The Rampage are currently three points out from sharing the fifth and final West Division playoff spot with Cincinnati as the AHL regular season concludes this Sunday. The format for the 2004 AHL Calder Cup Playoffs allows the top five teams in each division to enter post-season play, with the fourth and fifth seeds play a two-out-of-three games qualifying round. The Rampage are still mathematically in, but need help from Houston and Cincinnati to reach post-season play. It's still fuzzy to put a "magic number" on it, but it's looking like the number is going to be 70 points for the Rampageâmeaning that San Antonio can win two more games or tie the last four games.
Cincinnati plays Cleveland tonight, while Houston's next game is Friday against Cincinnati.
