Grizzlies offense hits rock bottom

The Utah Grizzlies are currently in the midst of a season-long eight game road trip that has them 0-6 thus far coming off back-to-back shutout losses to Cincinnati. Utah began the week with a 5-1 loss to Manchester who finished the year 4-0 versus the Grizzlies outscoring them 22-4 in the four contests. The Monarchs scored three first period goals chasing rookie Frank Doyle who was making his first AHL start (11 saves on 14 shots). The only Grizzlies goal was scored by Peter Metcalf, his second in as many games, with Jarrod Skalde notching one of the helpers for his 100th assist as a member of the Grizzlies. Utah then traveled to Cincinnati for a pair of games versus their Western Divisional rivals. The Grizzlies couldn't find the offense getting shutout both nights, Friday by Ilya Bryzgalov and Saturday by Frederic Cassivi. The Grizzlies have lost seven straight games away from home, a franchise record.

SKALDE HITS 100 ASSISTS WITH GRIZZLES:

~In Wednesday's game versus Manchester, Jarrod Skalde assisted on the Grizzlies only goal of the game scored by Peter Metcalf making him the sixth player in Grizzlies franchise history to record 100 assists. Skalde sits fifth on the Grizzlies all-time point list with 152 points trailing Grizzlies assistant coach Gord Dineen by 14 points.

NO LOVE FOR LeNEVEU:

~David LeNeveu has seen action in three of the Grizzlies six games on their current road trip and has yet to receive a single mark on the scoreboard. The Grizzlies have been silent with LeNeveu between the pipes getting outscored 8-0 while he has been on the ice. On the season, LeNeveu has received little offensive support as Utah has scored 38 goals with him in the net (1.81/game). LeNeveu has been the starter in six of the Grizzlies seven shutouts against and played two periods in the one game he did not start. Twice this season, LeNeveu has been shutout 1-0.

GRIZZLIES FAR FROM HOME AWAY FROM ‘E' CENTER:

~The Grizzlies have hit a bump in the road on their current eight-game road trip as they sit 0-6 thus far being outscored 26-4. Three times the team has been shutout and on the season have been blanked seven times. Utah's power play has been unplugged going 0 for 22 through the six games thus far, while opponents have scored 10 times on 27 power play chances. Utah hits Rochester for a pair of games this weekend with a chance to redeem themselves.

THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD (Continued):

~Utah's road trip concludes this week with a pair of games at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. It will be the Grizzlies first visit to Rochester, NY. Utah has lost a franchise record seven straight road games and are 0-6 on their road trip thus far being outscored 26-4.
