Manchester Monarchs News Release
LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
Vs. Utah (1/5): The Monarchs finished a season series four-game sweep of the Utah Grizzlies with a 5-1 victory at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Wednesday night. Right wing Brad Smyth and left wing Noah Clarke each had a pair of tallies for the Monarchs. Left wing Jeff Giuliano finished off the scoring with his fourth of the year. The Grizzlies lone goal came from defenseman Peter Metcalf. Monarchs goaltender Mathieu Garon finished the evening with 25 saves and his 17th win of the season. Goaltender Frank Doyle took the loss for the Grizzlies, stopping only 11 shots before being replaced by Jean-Marc Pelletier (18 saves) at the beginning of the second period. Manchester went 3-for-10 on the power play. Utah was 0-for-5 on the power play.
Vs. Lowell (1/7): The Monarchs fell to the Lowell Lock Monsters for the third time this season in a 3-1 defeat at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Center Michael Cammalleri was the only Monarch to find the back of the net. Lowell received goals from right wings Chad Larose and Chuck Kobasew (2). Monarchs goaltender Brent Krahn earned the win with 35 saves. Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser took his third loss of the season, stopping 15 shots. Manchester went 0-for-8 on the power play. Lowell was 0-for-3 on the power play.
Vs. Hartford (1/9): A power play goal from center Alexandre Giroux 1:09 into overtime gave the Hartford Wolf Pack a 3-2 win over the Monarchs at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday night. Hartford took an early two-goal lead with tallies from center Layne Ulmer and center Dominic Moore. The Monarchs answered back with two goals from center Yanick Lehoux to send the game into overtime. Monarchs goaltender Mathieu Garon took his seventh loss of the season stopping 28 shots. Goaltender Jason LaBarbera earned his 19th win of the season with 19 saves. Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Hartford was 1-for-5 on the power play.

NEWS & NOTES
Center Yanick Lehoux moved into third place on the Monarchs all-time scoring list with two goals against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
Lehoux, selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the third-round (86th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, has 132 points (52-80=132) in 181 career games as a Monarchs player.
The 22-year-old native of Repentigny, Quebec, needs 32 points over his last 43 games to catch former Monarchs center Steve Kelly for first place on the all-time list. Kelly, who played with the Monarchs for three seasons (2001-04), recorded 164 points (50- 114=164) in 162 career games as a Monarch.
Sunday's multi-goal effort for Lehoux was his first since November 14 when he collected two goals against the Springfield Falcons. Lehoux has five multi-goal games for the Monarchs this season to lead the team.
Three of the top five scorers in the AHL call Manchester home. Lehoux is second in the league with 53 points (22-31=53). Center Michael Cammalleri is third in the league with 50 points (23-27=50) and right wing Tom Kostopoulos is fifth in the league with 45 points (18-27=45).
Cammalleri, selected by the Kings in the second-round (49th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, scored his first goal in 10 games on Friday night against the Lock Monsters. Cammalleri leads the Monarchs and is tied for second in the league with 23 goals this season.
The Monarchs record on home ice against the Hartford Wolf Pack (0-0-2-0) and the Lowell Lock Monsters (1-2-0-0) is 1-2-2-0. The Monarchs record on home ice against the rest of the AHL is 14-0-0-0. The Monarchs improved their record to 20-1-0-0 when they shut out the Providence Bruins, 2-0, on December 4. Since that time, they are 6-6-3-1 in their last 16 games.
The Monarchs have just two wins in their last six games (2-3-1-0), but still hold the best winning percentage (.757) in the AHL. The Monarchs are tied for the league lead with 26 wins.
The Monarchs (26-7-3-1, 56 points) enter this week's action with a one-point lead over the Hartford Wolf Pack (26-9-1-2, 55 points) in the AHL's Atlantic Division. The Monarchs have held sole possession of first place in the division since November 14.
The Monarchs hosted a sellout crowd (9,916) for the sixth time this season on Sunday night against the Wolf Pack. Manchester, which led the AHL in attendance each of the last two years, is at it again. The Monarchs lead the 28-team AHL with an attendance average of 8,874 after 19 home games.
The Monarchs matched a season high with 19 shots in the first period of their game on Friday night against the Lock Monsters.
The Monarchs have failed to convert on their last 22 power play chances against the Lock Monsters. The streak covers three games.
The Monarchs are 0-for-19 on the power play in their last two home games against the Lock Monsters.
The Monarchs are 2-2-2-0 on home ice in games where they scored three goals or less this season. The Monarchs are 13-0-0-0 on home ice in games where they scored four goals or more this season.
The Monarchs have scored the first goal in 26 of their 37 games this season. They have a record of 22-3-1-0 in the 26 games.
The Monarchs lead the AHL in goals (138), assists (248), points (386) and goals -per-game-average (3.73). The Monarchs are second in the league with a team goals -against-average of 2.11.
The Monarchs lead the league with 47 power play goals and are second in the league with a power play success rate of 20.8 percent.
The Wolf Pack finished 1-for-5 on the power play against the Monarchs on Sunday night. The power play goal they scored was just the eighth allowed by the Monarchs in 19 home games this season (8 for 97). The Monarchs have a home ice penalty kill rate of 91.8 percent, which is fourth best in the league.
Goaltender Mathieu Garon recorded his 100th AHL win on Wednesday night against the Utah Grizzlies. Garon, originally selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the second-round (44th overall) in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft and acquired by the Kings from Montreal for forward Radek Bonk and goalie Cristobal Huet on June 26, 2004, has a career AHL record of 100-87-21.
Defenseman Joe Rullier, the Monarchs all-time games played (234 games played) and penalty minute leader (665 penalty minutes), is fourth in the AHL with a plus-22 plus/minus rating. Rullier's rating leads all AHL blueliners.
Rullier, selected by the Kings in the fifth-round (133rd overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, has 180 penalty minutes after 37 games this season. The 24-year-old Rullier needs just six more penalty minutes to match his career high of 186 penalty minutes in a season (2003-04). Rullier's penalty minutes lead all AHL defensemen.
