Trip to Nationwide Arena Highlights Week

THREE ‘HOME' GAMES AGAINST CLEVELAND: For the first time in franchise history the Crunch will face the same opponent in three consecutive ‘home' games, albeit the first of the three games will take place at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, home of Syracuse's NHL affiliate Blue Jackets on Wednesday, January 12. The Crunch will return to the War Memorial at Oncenter for games Friday, January 14 and Saturday, January 15. The meetings this week will be the first, second and third of eight regular season contests between these North Division rivals. The three consecutive games against Cleveland is the sixth time in team history the club will face an opponent in three consecutive games and first since the 2002-03 season when they faced Rochester on March 14, 15 & 16. The other times Syracuse has played three straight against the same opponent includes Hamilton on November 7, 8 & 10, 1997, Kentucky on March 6, 7 & 12, 1999, Albany on April 3, 9 & 10, 1999 and Rochester on November 13, 19 & 20, 2000.

OFFENSIVE BREAKOUT: The Crunch's offense set season highs for goals in a game (7) and power play goals in a game (4) on Sunday, January 9, as the Crunch defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 7-2. Brad Moran (2g), Alexander Svitov (2g), Joe Motzko, Chris Ferraro and Jeff Panzer scored for Syracuse.

GAMES AT NATIONWIDE ARENA: The Crunch's January 12 game against Cleveland in Columbus will be the fifth time Syracuse has played a ‘home' game at Nationwide Arena. The Crunch have a 2-1-1 mark in the previous four games, defeating Cincinnati 3-0 on February 15, 2002 and Cleveland 1-0 on February 17, 2002, tying Cincinnati 1-1 on February 8, 2003 and dropping one game to Cleveland 4-3 on February 7, 2003.

FORMER CRUNCH PLAYERS IN AHL: Entering this week twenty-one former Crunch players are currently on an AHL roster. St. John's leads the way with five former Syracuse players - David Ling, Harold Druken, Brad Leeb, Robb Palahnuk and Jean-Sebastien Aubin. Other players include Pat Kavanagh (Binghamton), Kevin Colley (Bridgeport), Lonny Bohonos (Chicago), Frederic Cassivi (Cincinnati), Rich Mrozik (Edmonton), Mathieu Darche (Hershey), Ryan Bonni (Milwaukee), Mike Brown (Norfolk), Ryan Ready & Riley Cote (Philadelphia), Darrel Scoville (Providence), Todd Rohloff (Rochester), Chris Nielsen (San Antonio), Martin Sonnenberg (Utah), Chris Kelleher (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton) and Brendan Buckley (Worcester). Seven additional players have appeared in the AHL this season but are no longer currently on an AHL roster – Blake Bellefeuille (Bridgeport), Greg Labinski (Cleveland), Adam Borzecki (Manchester), Nate Kiser (Portland), Jonathan Zion (Utah), Brian Bonin and Alfie Michaud (Worcester).

THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS:

CLEVELAND (SAN JOSE SHARKS): Syracuse plays Cleveland in Columbus, at the Nationwide Arena in Ohio on Wednesday, January 12 and at the War Memorial at Oncenter on January 14 and 15 for the first three of eight regular season meeting between the teams this season. Left wing Ryan Clowe leads all Barons with 28 points (8g, 20a) in 38 games. Dimitri Patzold (9-8-2, 2.44 goals against average and .915 save percentage) and Nolan Schaefer (7-12-0, 2.83 goals against average and .908 save percentage) have each appeared in 19 games for Cleveland. Lifetime, the Crunch are 15-8-1 against the Barons.

Coleman's ‘Dinner and a Game': The Syracuse Crunch announced the details of the Coleman's ‘Dinner and a Game' program.

During the month of January any party that orders two (2) dinner entrees will receive a Crunch ticket voucher valid for two (2) tickets to a future Crunch home game, of the customer's choice.

Coleman's Authentic Irish Pub and Restaurant is located on the corner of Tompkins Street and Lowell Avenue on Syracuse's Tipperary Hill. For directions call 476- 1933. At this Irish Pub, atmosphere is just as important as flavor. There you'll find custom crafted stained glass windows with intricate designs from the Book of Kells, paintings from the Irish National Gallery, and a dark oak bar patterned after the original Jury's in Dublin.

Crunch Players To Sign Autographs at Coleman's: The Syracuse Crunch announced today that Crunch players Tim Jackman and Aaron Johnson will be at Coleman's located on Tipperary Hill on Thursday, January 13 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. to sign autographs.

Saturday, January 15

Fred Flintstone Visits the War Memorial at Oncenter: The Syracuse Crunch, along with Time Warner, announced that Fred Flintstone will visit the War Memorial at Oncenter during their Saturday, January 15 game vs. Cleveland.

Fred Flintstone will be available between the first and second intermissions to take pictures and sign autographs in Memorial Hall. During the Crunch's January 14, fans will be able to register at the Advance Auto Parts Guest Service Center to win four (4) tickets and a special family VIP Pass for a meet and greet with Fred Flintstone on January 15.

Crunch Announce Details of Turning Stone Fan Appreciation Night: The Syracuse Crunch announced that Saturday, January 15 will be Turning Stone Fan Appreciation Night at the Crunch.

All fans, over the age of 18, can bring their ticket stub from the Crunch's home game on Saturday, January 15 to the Diamond Card Registration desk for a choice of a $10 Meal Voucher, $10 Free Play Card, $10 Match Play Coupon or a Level 1 Bingo Coupon. Fans can redeem their January 15 ticket stub for up to five days after the game.

Crunch Announce New York State Lottery Night: The Syracuse Crunch announced that Saturday, January 15 will be New York State Lottery Night at the Crunch.

The first 500 fans, 18 and over, in attendance will receive a Lotto coupon courtesy of New York State Lottery. In addition, New State Lottery will put 50 logo stickers in Crunch Times, the official game night program of the Syracuse Crunch. Fans that purchase a program with the Lottery logo can bring their game night program to the New York State Lottery table to redeem a prize from the New York State Lottery.

Crunch Players to Sign Autographs at Tully's, January 17: The Syracuse Crunch announced that Crunch players Mark Hartigan, Zenith Komarniski and Pascal Leclaire will be at Tully's on 7th North Street on January 17 from 6-7 p.m. to sign autographs.

Tully's is located at 311 7th North Street. Call 451-6766 for directions.

Friday, January 21

Empire Vision Centers Poster Night at the Crunch Set For January 21: One of the most popular giveaways in team history returns on Friday, January 21, when each fan in attendance will receive an Empire Vision Centers Crunch poster.

This years' poster depicts the coaching staff and players in a western style ‘WANTED' format. Each fan in attendance will receive the Crunch poster, courtesy of Empire Vision Centers.

Saturday, January 22

Quickway Trading Card Night Set For January 22: The Syracuse Crunch, along with Quickway, announced that their Saturday, January 22 game against Rochester will be Quickway Trading Card Night.

The first 1,500 fans in attendance at the Saturday, January 22 game, will receive the first 13 of the 25 2004-05 trading card set. The remaining 12-card set will be available, beginning that night, at area Quickway locations.

INJURY UPDATE: Goaltender Pascal Leclaire is expected to miss one-to-two weeks with a groin injury. He has missed 15 games with the injury... Center Raffaele Sannitz is listed as day-to-day with a shoulder injury. He has missed three games with the injury... Right wing Brandon Sugden is listed as day-to-day with an injury. He has missed three games with the injury... Through 36 games this season, Syracuse has lost 54 man-games due to injuries. Pascal Leclaire – 15, Jeff Panzer – 8, Francois Beauchemin – 7, Greg Mauldin - 6, Raffaele Sannitz – 5, Brandon Sugden – 5, Mark Hartigan – 3, Zenith Komarniski – 3, Jamie Pushor – 1, and Aaron Johnson - 1 represent the Crunch's injury list this season.

CRUNCHABLES: Defenseman Francois Beauchemin recorded his 100th American Hockey League point, assisting on Alexander Svitov's second goal in the third period during the Crunch's 7-2 victory over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on January 9... Center Mark Hartigan was the first player to the century mark in shots, hitting the total on January 8... Left wing Jeremy Reich is one game shy of 300 in his AHL career... Center Jeff Panzer's goal on Saturday, January 8 against Binghamton was his first since November 13 vs. Rochester.
