Team Moves Up to Fourth in Division; Set to Host Canadian Foes

FRIDAY, JANUARY 7, 2005: WORCESTER 4 SAN ANTONIO 1

Late in third period with the Rampage down 3-0, Juraj Kolnik gave the home team energy as he scored off assists from Stephen Weiss and Gregory Campbell. Weiss extended his point-scoring streak to five games.

Patrick DesRochers gave way to Travis Scott midway through the first period, and Scott turned away 24 of 25 shots on the night, allowing only a power-play goal at 9:25 in the second period.

Early first-period goals by Worcester shifted the momentum in their favor and a strong effort by goaltender Jason Bacashihua (32 saves on 33 shots) led the IceCats to a 4-1 win.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 8, 2005: CHICAGO 2 SAN ANTONIO 1

Playing in his second consectutive game, Travis Scott denied 32 of Chicago's 34 shots. Half of which came in the first period, but J.P. Vigier scored twice in the first pacing Chicago to a 2-1 win.

Paul Healey cut the lead in half with his fifth goal of the season at 5:59 of the second period. Lukas Krajicek and Chris Nielsen assisted on the goal, their 15th and fourth respectively.

Chicago's Michael Garnett turned away 27 of 28 on the night.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 9, 2005: SAN ANTONIO 2 CHICAGO 1

San Antonio concluded their third game in as many nights with a 2-1 overtime win, behind the play of Travis Scott who turned away 32 shots on the night, including one in overtime, to earn his ninth victory of the year.

Gregory Campbell opened the scoring with help from Joel Kwiatkowski on a short- handed goal at 7:46 in the first period, and the two connected again at 4:19 in overtime for the game-winner.

Scott, who also assisted on the game-winner, only allowed a power-play goal at 16:45 in the second period.

SHOTS FROM THE POINT

Fresh face - The Rampage acquired on loan center Joe Cullen on Jan. 3 from the Edmonton Road Runners in exchange for Eric Beaudoin.

Familiar Faces - When Manitoba and Edmonton visit San Antonio they'll be able to find their way around town. Manitoba's roster includes former Rampage players Lee Goren, Kent Huskins, and Wade Flaherty. Rocky Thompson and Eric Beaudoin will return to the River City with Edmonton.

Jersey Auction - San Antonio's festive New Year's jerseys brought in over $12,000 when they were auctioned off to the public. San Antonio was a perfect 2-0 in the jerseys. Proceeds will benefit the Spurs Foundation which will use the money to purchase Rampage tickets for underserved area youth.

Scoring in Bunches - Stephen Weiss had a five-game scoring streak (Dec. 27 through Jan. 7, 2-6-8 totals) snapped in Chicago. For Weiss, the team leader in assists and points, it was the second such streak of the season. He had a six-game stretch from Nov. 28 - Dec. 10 (3-4-7) and also had a four- game streak from 10/27 - 11/1 (2-4-6).

Hosting the Cup - Lord Stanley's Cup will be on display at the SBC Center when the Rampage play Manitoba on Thursday Jan. 13.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

GOALTENDER - TRAVIS SCOTT

Travis played in goal on three consecutive nights and turned away 88 of 92 shots (.957). Three of the four goals allowed came on opponent's power play opportunities. Scott also recorded an assist on Gregory Campbell's game-winning overtime goal on Jan. 9 in Chicago.
