The Situation
The Grizzlies complete a five-game home stand with three games in four days Friday and Saturday with Bakersfield and Monday at 1:35 p.m. with Idaho. Utah then hits the road for a season-high seven-game road trip starting January 25 in Stockton.
Goaltender Added
The Grizzlies have acquired goaltender Shane Owen from Cincinnati, he spent the first-half of the season with Utah last year and is 17-16-8 with a 2.93 goals-against-average and a .903 save percentage the last two seasons in the ECHL. He joins Grant Rollheiser and Andrew Engelage as Utah's three goaltenders on the roster.
First Meeting
The Grizzlies meet Bakersfield as the eighth and final Western Conference opponent that they will see this season. The Condors last visited Utah February 8, 2012.
Special Teams
The Grizzlies have risen to fifth in the ECHL on the power-play at 20.8 percent and by scoring at least one power-play goal in 29 of their last 35 games. Utah has not allowed a power-play goal in three-straight games by killing 19-straight shorthanded situations and tying a season-high of killing 20-straight shorthanded situations.
Comings And Goings
There have been close to 150 ECHL players called up to the AHL or rejoining NHL teams since the lockout ended last week. Utah has seen Adam Estoclet, Mitch Wahl, Drew MacKenzie, Ian Schultz, Mark Isherwood and Riley Armstrong called-up over the stretch. The Grizzlies will announce any possible additions or other transactions for the weekend roster prior to warm-ups tomorrow on Facebook and Twitter.
This Weekend
Utah hosts Bakersfield Friday and Saturday with more buy-one-get-one-free entrees from Angelina's Little Italy and El Pasado Cantina. Saturday is Guns N Hoses Night. The first 1,000 fans will also receive a Grizzlies cup and Pepsi coupons for in the arena and at Maverik.
