Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC: Bretton Cameron notched his first career hat trick as Greenville cruised past Gwinnett by a score of 5-1.
Cameron began the best night in his career scoring 1:50 in with a shorthanded goal. Jeremy Gouchie added another goal with his sixth of the year on a play developed by Bretton Stamler behind the net. Greenville closed out the first with a 2-0 lead and killed off all three Gwinnett power plays in the period. The Road Warriors would not take another penalty the rest of the game.
Cameron scored once again early in the second period for his eighth goal of the year. Greenville had a 3-0 lead cut when Doug Jones scored the only Gwinnett goal while shorthanded. A turnover in the attacking zone proved to be fatal as Jones found a Casey Pierro-Zabotel rebound for his 16th of the year. Just 1:09 later Greenville regained a three goal lead. Brandon Wong made a saucer pass from behind the net to Brendan Connolly for his 17th of the year. The second period closed out with a 4-1 Road Warriors lead. Scott Stajcer was busy in the period facing 16 shots.
The Road Warriors played a tight third period and kept Gwinnett to the outside with minimal scoring chances. In the closing minutes, Bretton Cameron scored his hat trick goal on the power play. His shot beat netminder Louis Domingue blocker side for his ninth goal of the year. Stajcer, the game's second star, won his fifth game of the year stopping 38 of 39 saves. Dominque took the loss stopping 26 of 31 shots. Gouchie was the game's third star with a goal and an assist. Cameron captured the game's first star.
