Victoria, British Columbia - The Utah Grizzlies battled back from a 4-1 deficit, a 5-2 hole and finally a 6-4 score with under seven minutes left in regulation to earn a point in a 7-6 shootout loss Wednesday in Victoria to run their unbeaten streak to 2-0-0-1.

Utah took their only lead of the night 2:28 into the first period as Dylan Hunter knocked in his first of the night and his 12th of the year into a wide open net on a power-play rebound. The Salmon Kings however scored two goals on two shots in a 29-second span at 4:26 and 4:55 (power-play) to make it 2-1. Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley then turned to goaltender Mitch O'Keefe who relieved Beau Erickson.

The Salmon Kings would then hold the lead in one variation or another until Utah captain Ryan Kinasewich tied the contest ten seconds into a power-play with 5:17 left in regulation with his league-leading 32nd goal; 57 seconds after Tom May made it 6-5 on his 15th goal of the year.

Utah held Victoria scoreless and nearly shotless on a late third period power-play to force overtime.

The game would head to a shootout following a brilliant sliding overtime save by O'Keefe on a two-on-one rush by Victoria as Chad Painchaud found Olivier Latendresse for a cross-ice look.

Each team scored in the first two rounds of shootout with Peter Aston and AJ Perry potting their looks for Utah. Victoria native Mike Hamilton scored in round-four and Kinasewich was then denied on the ensuing Utah chance to complete the contest.

Perry (one goal, three assists), Kinasewich (one goal, two assists), May (one goal, one assist) and Hunter (two goals) all had multiple-point games.

After an off day Thursday, Utah is back in action Friday and Saturday in Victoria. Face-off both evenings is scheduled for 8:05 p.m.

The Grizzlies return home Wednesday, February 17 to host Victoria and begin a five-game home stand. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
