ANCHORAGE - The Alaska Aces (21-21-2-2, 46 points) scored three times in the second period to turn a close game into a runaway 4-1 victory against the Bakersfield Condors (26-13-2-1, 55 points) Wednesday night at Sullivan Arena.

Alaska scored the only goal of the first period. LW Judd Blackwater got his stick on a drive from the point to take the 1-0 lead. At that point, Bakersfield was being out-shot 6-1, but they rallied to take nine of the last 14 shots of the frame, but couldn't tie it up.

The Aces extended the lead with a trio of goals in the middle frame, with RW Justin Johnson beating G Timo Pielmeier for his third of the season at 4:05. A giveaway by the Condors defense led to F Eric Boguniecki's 10th at 8:42, and D T.J. Fast scored his 8th at 17:45. Shots were 23-16 Aces after 40 minutes, and they led 4-0.

D Eric Regan put the Condors on the board at 9:39 of the third with a shorthanded goal, his 11th of the season, foiling G Frank Doyle's shutout bid. However, Doyle made Alaska's defensive effort pay off, recording 27 saves to collect the win. Pielmeier finished with 24 saves on the night, as shots were even 28-28.
