Idaho's Derlago Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Player Of The Month For January

PRINCETON, N.J. - Mark Derlago of the Idaho Steelheads is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for January.

Derlago scored 24 points (8g-16a), including five power-play goals, and had a plus-minus rating of +9 in 11 games to help Idaho improve to 30-11-2 and hold onto the top spot in the National Conference. He ended the month with a nine-game point streak (8g-15a) and leads the Steelheads with 27 assists while ranking second with 14 goals and 44 points in 32 games.

The 24 year old tied his career high with four assists in a 6-3 win at Bakersfield on Jan. 29 and had two power-play goals, including the game winner, in a 3-2 win at Bakersfield on Jan. 30. He scored three-or-more points in three of his last five games and five times during the month while finishing even or better in every game but one.

He has played in the ECHL in each of his first three professional seasons and has 178 points (88g-90a) and 128 penalty minutes in 149 regular season games with Bakersfield and Idaho and 15 points (8g-7a) in 13 Kelly Cup Playoff games for Bakersfield. The Brandon, Manitoba native has also played in the American Hockey League where he has 15 points (7g-8a) and 10 penalty minutes in 30 games with Manitoba and Providence.

Runners Up: Alexandre Imbeault, Alaska (13 gp, 8g, 9a, 17 pts.), Yannick Tifu, Elmira (12 gp, 5g, 17a, 22 pts.) and James Bates, Stockton (13 gp, 8g, 14a, 22 pts.).
