Grizzlies Add NHL Goaltending Experience To Complete Trade With Florida

Victoria, British Columbia - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the team has acquired the ECHL rights to goaltender Mike Morrison as future considerations to complete a December 12 trade that sent Shea Guthrie to the Everblades for the rights to Simon Ferguson as well as now Mike Morrison.

Morrison is expected to join the Grizzlies next week in Boise as they continue their six-game road trip.

The Massachusetts native was 9-10-3 with a 2.89 goals-against-average and a.899 save percentage this year with Florida and also spent time with the AHL's Albany River Rats. He has played in the NHL with Edmonton, Ottawa and Phoenix and has an all-time record of 11-7-3 with a 3.28 goals-against-average and a.870 save percentage. Morrison went 10-4-2 with Edmonton in 2005-2006, a team that went on to lose to Carolina in the Stanley Cup Championship in seven games. He was a seventh-round selection of the Oilers in the 1998 NHL entry draft.

In 85 career AHL games with Toronto, Edmonton, San Antonio, Bridgeport and Albany; Morrison has a 37-31-8 record, a 2.67 goals-against-average and a.911 save percentage. The 30-year-old has appeared in 215 total professional games in North America. Ferguson remains in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch.

Utah, 2-0-0-1 in their last three games, continues their road trip Friday and Saturday in Victoria. Face-off both evenings is scheduled for 8:05 p.m.
