
Grizzlies can't sink defending champs

West Valley City, Utah- The Utah Grizzlies battled back from a six-goal deficit in the third period to cut the lead in half but the Admirals scored a late power play goal making the final score 7-3 at the 'E* Center. The Grizzlies are still without a win at home this season going 0-6-0-1 in their first seven in Utah.
Scottie Upshall led the way for the Admirals with a goal and two helpers and combined with last night's 9-3 victory over Cincinnati is a +7 in the last 48 hours. Vern Fiddler, Andrew Hutchinson and Simon Gamache each had two assists. Jerred Smithson, Timofei Shishkanov, Kevin Klein, Darren Haydar and Wyatt Smith also scored goals for the Admirals who had a balanced attack with seven different goal scorers. Ryan Suter also scored for the Admirals marking his first professional goal.
Early in the third period the Admirals held a 6-0 lead but Utah battled back with goals from Dustin Wood, Erik Westrum and Jeff Taffe cutting the lead to 6-3. A flurry of penalty calls against Utah led to the Haydar power play goal putting an end to the Grizzlies comeback.
Peter White registered an assist in his first game with the Grizzlies.
Utah finished the night 1 for 3 on the power play, while the Admirals finished the night 2 for 9.
Utah will be square off against the Admirals again tomorrow night. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 PM at the 'E' Center.
