Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI --
The Providence Bruins poured 53 shots on goal against the Springfield Falcons on Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, as a season-high 10,172 fans watched the Black and Gold skate to a 4-2 victory. The shot total was a single-game high for the Bruins this season, and the most in a game since May 18, 2001, when the P-Bruins fired on 51 in a 3-3 tie with the Syracuse Crunch. The Bruins surrendered just 25 shots on goal to the Falcons. The Bruins have now moved into fifth place in the Atlantic Division with their 6-6-1-2 record (15 points).
Bruin defenseman Chris Dyment broke a scoreless tie at 7:44 of the second period on his first goal of the season. Center Keith Aucoin added his third of the year later in the period, after Springfield had tied the game. Center Ben Guite made his first goal of the season a big one, as he notched the game-winner at 13:17 of the third period. Left wing Andy Hilbert sealed things with an empty-net goal at 19:27.
Hilbert (1-1-2), Dyment (1-1-2) and center Patrice Bergeron (0-2-2) all had multiple-point games for the Bruins.
Bruin goaltender Hannu Toivonen stopped 23 shots for the win. Toivonen's record is 5-6-1 on the season.
The Bruins visit the Portland Pirates on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m., with game action being broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550 and online at www.providencebruins.com. The Bruins return home to host the Philadelphia Phantoms on Sunday, November 21 at 4:05 p.m.
Prior to Sunday's game, Bruins wives and girlfriends will conclude the team's annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Non-perishable food items will be collected in the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office lobby, and donated to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Food will be collected from 2:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Providence Bruins are pleased to offer the new 3-Game Plan. There are four different 3-Game Plans to choose from, each offering three exciting games for just $24.
