PHILADELPHIA, PA - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, lost 3-1 on the road to the Philadelphia Phantoms Friday. The win was the 12th in a row for the Philadelphia who last lost 4-2 in Bridgeport on Sunday, October 17th. The loss snapped the Sound Tigers' four-game winning streak.

For the seventh time this season, the Sound Tigers were involved in a scoreless first period with each team going 0 for 3 on the power play and the Phantoms holding a shots on goal advantage of 11-7 though the first 20 minutes of play.

Philadelphia took the first lead of the contest when R.J. Umberger redirected a Randy Jones shot past Sound Tigers Goaltender Dieter Kochan 3:27 into the middle frame for his fourth goal of the season. Tony Voce also assisted on the play.

The Sound Tigers tied the game with a blue-collar effort as Sean Bergenheim stuffed the rebound of an Eric Godard shot past Phantoms Netminder Antero Niittymaki with 5:43 left in the second period. Cole Jarrett also assisted on the goal, which was Bergenheim's team-leading sixth of the season.

Philadelphia regained the lead at 2-1 on Mark Murphy's fifth goal of the season 4:32 into the third period off assists from Jones and Patrick Sharp, and Jones iced the win with his second goal of the year, and third point of the game, with 7:56 left to play off assists from Ben Stafford and Boyd Kane to make it 3-1.

The Sound Tigers did pull Kochan in favor of an extra attacker with one minute left to play but could not score.

Jones, who entered the game with just one goal and four points this season, was the first star of the game, Murphy was the second, and Niittymaki was the third. The Sound Tigers were 0 for 3 on the power play but 5 for 5 on the penalty kill. They also had a 27-26 shots on goal advantage.
