Stockton, California - The Utah Grizzlies (26-24-6-10) defeated the Stockton Thunder 5-1 Thursday night at Stockton Arena.

Utah all-star rookie forward Tom May scored four goals in the contest; including three in the first 7:39 of the first period to give Utah an early 3-0 lead. May got the Utah scoring started just seven seconds into the game after Peder Skinner won the opening face-off. The goal was the fastest goal to start a game in Grizzlies history, shattering the old record set by Paul Kruse, who scored nine seconds into a game on March 25, 2000 at Houston.

Leading 3-1 in the third period, Utah added two insurance goals as Andy Sertich tapped in a puck through traffic for his 11th of the year before Tom May completed his four-goal night scoring into an empty net with 1:10 left to go.

Robert Gherson stopped 28 of 29 Stockton shots to improve to 5-2.

Rob Hennigar extended his scoring streak to six with two assists for his 18th multiple-point game of the year. Peder Skinner totaled two assists as well.

Utah now heads back to Bakersfield for an 8:00 p.m. face-off Friday.

The Grizzlies return home Tuesday and Wednesday when they will host the Phoenix RoadRunners at 7:05 p.m. each night.
