
Checkers Will Lift Up Ellie On Sunday Night

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers have teamed up with the Potvin family for Lift up Ellie Night at Time Warner Cable Arena this Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. when the team battles the Florida Everblades.
Ellie Shoal Potvin is a beautiful seven year old child who was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called Stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma. The Charlotte Checkers have teamed up with Ellie and her family to raise funds to help ease the financial burdens placed on Ellie's family and allow her parents to provide the best medical treatments available in the world. The Potvin Family has no control on the number of days they will blessed with Ellie's joy filled spirit on earth, but the family's mission is to make everyday the best possible day of her life.
The Checkers plan to honor Ellie and her family at the game with a number of different surprises. She will take part in the ceremonial puck drop and also be presented with gifts from the team and a donation by Checkers team owner Michael Kahn.
Checkers COO Tera Black is overjoyed at helping Ellie and her family, "There are people you come across in your lifetime that are simply incredible. Ellie and her family are just-incredibly strong, loving and courageous. This game will be played for Ellie and we are so looking forward to it!"

The Checkers are in their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next Checkers home game will take place on March 20 against the Florida Everblades at 7 p.m. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date.
