Bombers Take Shootout in Wheeling 4-3

Wheeling ,WV -- The Dayton Bombers let a three goal lead slip away in the third period but win in a shootout 4-3 at Wheeling Friday night.

After a scoreless first, Dayton scored three times in the second. Finding the net were Ryan Smyth ( 11:20 assisted by Nino Musitelli and Justin Chwedoruk), Chwedoruk on an unassisted shorthanded goal at 13:00 and Christian Gaudet at 18:23 (assists to Jarret Lukin and Musitelli).

Wheeling would tie the game in the third on a trio of goals to make it 3-3 at the end of regulation.

The shootout went to sudden death and Jim Henkemeyer got the winner as the eighth Bombers shooter for the 4-3 shootout win.

Dayton goalie David Shantz was 33 of 36 and 7 of 8 in the shootout.

The Bombers have a pair of home games at Hobart Arena in Troy against Gwinnett Saturday (7:30 p.m.) and Sunday (5 p.m.). The Saturday game will be carried on 980 WONE and both will be on the B2 Networks.
