TUCSON, Ariz. - Grant Green doubled, homered, scored three times and drove in three runs Thursday night at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium, leading the Sacramento River Cats to a 9-3 victory over the Tucson Padres.

The River Cats scored a run in the first without the benefit of a hit, and never trailed the rest of the way. They were aided by a pair of three-run frames-the third and eighth innings-and took advantage of two Tucson errors to score a pair of unearned runs. Hiro Nakajima and Luke Montz each drove in runs in the third, while Green hit a three-run homer in the eighth to put the game out of reach. The win was their second straight and third in their last four contests.

Thursday's win also put the River Cats in sole possession of first place, snapping a tie with Tucson.

Sonny Gray (6-3) tossed his eighth-straight quality start, giving up two runs in 6.2 innings of work. He struck out six and walked five, surrendering just five hits.

The loss fell to Tucson starter Robbie Erlin (4-1), who allowed five runs-three earned-in five innings pitched.

Green finished 2-for-6 with his second home run in his last four contests, while Jeremy Barfield also finished with two hits in the win. Montz and Michael Taylor doubled in the game, and Andy Parrino drew three walks and scored twice.

Sacramento and Tucson face off again Friday night at 6:05 p.m. PT from Kino Stadium. Cats LHP Andrew Werner (4-8, 5.69 ERA) is scheduled to start against T-Pads RHP Anthony Bass (0-0, 9.00 ERA).

The River Cats return home Friday, June 14, for a four-game set against Tacoma, featuring a pair of fireworks shows and the annual Father's Day Baseball and BBQ event at Raley Field, set for Sunday, June 16.
