Great Scott! Tyler's Two Goals Spark Condors 6-4 Win in Long Beach

Bakersfield Condors News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Tyler Scott scored twice and Andrew Ianiero had three assists as the Bakersfield Condors knocked off the Long Beach Ice Dogs 6-4 Sunday in front of 2,012 at Long Beach Arena.

The Condors (4-3-1) jumped out quickly with three goals in the first. Brett Lutes opened the scoring at 3:48, beating netminder Jeff Weber with a wrist- shot on a 2-on-1. Scott followed with his first of the season, a shorthanded tally off a pretty feed from Mike Hofstrand. Nicklas Lindberg capped the outburst with a shorthanded goal as well on a setup from Andrew Ianiero and Reagan Leslie.

The Ice Dogs (0-7-1) fought back with a goal in the first by Mark Hurtubise and one in the second by T.J. Trevelyan, but Scott lit the lamp again on a nice cross-ice feed by Sean Venedam to restore the two-goal lead at 6:52 of the second.

Venedam was the recipient of a great pass on the next goal, as Leslie faked a shot from the point and slid it down low to Venedam, who tapped it home for a 5-2 lead.

Long Beach closed the gap to 5-4 in the third on goals 1:26 apart by Trevelyan and Ash Goldie, but David Kudelka's first of the season, from the left point at 15:51, was the insurance marker the Condors needed to seal the win.

Notes: Marty Raymond is now three victories away from becoming the winningest coach in Bakersfield history. The Condors are 15-16-3 all- time at Long Beach, dating back to WCHL play. Ianeiro's six assists lead the team, and he has seven points (2g, 5a) in the two games in Long Beach. Scott Borders (leg), Steve Rodberg (knee), Danny Stewart (knee) and Andrew Oke (leg) remain on the injured list. Todd Griffith is still awaiting the completion of his immigration paperwork.

The Condors open a six-game homestand Friday against the Ice Dogs and then host the Las Vegas Wranglers Saturday, Nov. 11, with both games set to begin at 7 p.m. On Friday, the first 3,000 fans will receive an Expandable Condors Cheer Scroll, presented by Bright House Networks and the U.S. Army.
