Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Mike Scott scored twice and Chris Beckford-Tseu turned in 33 saves as Alaska whipped Bakersfield 6-1 in front of 6,730 to salvage a split of their weekend series at Rabobank Arena.

Scott blasted one of his trademark slap shots past Danny Taylor only 1:33 into the first period, and the Condors never drew even. Steven Later pushed the lead to 2-0 on a drive from the high slot with Alaska shorthanded at 13:08. Josh Liebenow scored on that same power play 33 seconds later to pull Bakersfield within 2-1, but the goal marked the only time the Condors would solve Beckford-Tseu, who has lost just one of 21 regular season decisions in an Aces sweater.

Stephen Wood scored his first goal in an Alaska uniform at 3:19 of the second period, and Kevin Croxton built the margin to 4-1 with 3:58 left in the frame and teams skating four-on-four. Croxton, the team leader with four goals on the year, also hit two posts and the crossbar during the game. Scott converted an Aces power play with his second of the night at 3:07 of the final period, and Kimbi Daniels tipped in a shot by defenseman Matt Shasby four minutes later to account for the final margin. Shasby completed his evening with three assists.

The Aces, now 4-2 and a game and a half behind front-running Idaho in the West Division race, travel to Utah (2-3-2) Monday in preparation for a three-game set that opens at the 'E' Center Wednesday and continues Friday and Saturday. All three games will be broadcast live at 5:00 p.m. AST on KFQD 750 AM, with coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off. Tickets for Alaska's next home series against Las Vegas, which arrives in town for a three-game series beginning November 16, are now available at the Aces office, www.alaskaaces.com, and all Fred Meyer locations in Anchorage. Fans also may call Ticketmaster at 562-4800.
