Wildcatters Winning Streak Comes to an End

Duluth, GA (November 4, 2006) The Texas Wildcatters three game winning streak came to an end as the Gwinnett Gladiators defeated the Wildcatters 6 to 3 in front of a sellout crowd of 11,355 at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Wildcatters record goes to 4-2-0. The match up was the first of eight meetings between the top two teams in the South division. The Catters were put in a hole early as Gwinnett struck with three first period goals and Matt Yeats came in to relieve starting goaltender Miroslav Kopriva at the 18:00 minute mark of the first period.

Mark Rooneem netted his second goal in as many nights making the score 3 to 1 at the end of the first period, but Gwinnett came out strong again in the second and added three more goals. Brandin Cote scored his fifth of the season for Texas and Kevin Baker scored his league leading sixth power play goal and seventh goal of the season to round out the scoring for the Wildcatters. The Wildcatters have scored a power play goal in every game this season. For the second straight night the Wildcatters were out shot as Gwinnett put 31 shots on Texas goaltending and the Wildcatters finished the night with 27 shots. Gwinnett goaltender Dan Turple earned his fourth win of the season. League leading scorer Brad Schell had a goal and two assists and now has 19 points for the Gladiators.

The Texas Wildcatters are the ECHL affiliate for the AHL's Houston Aeros. The next Wildcatters home game is on Friday, November 10 vs. the defending American Conference Champion Gwinnett Gladiators.
