Wranglers Fall Short In Overtime 5-4

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers® were defeated by the Victoria Salmon Kings 5-4 in overtime on Saturday night in front of 5,089 fans at the Orleans Arena. Victoria's David Wrigley scored the game-winning goal with 1:22 remaining in overtime, giving the Salmon Kings the 5-4 victory. Four different Wranglers scored in the loss. Goalie Kevin Nastiuk made 32 saves on 37 shots in his first appearance for Las Vegas. Victoria's Julien Ellis made 39 saves on 43 shots to pick up his first professional win. The Wranglers will face the Salmon Kings again on Tuesday night at 7:05pm at the Orleans Arena.

In the first period, Victoria struck first as F.P. Guenette notched his fourth goal of the season on the power play just 1:43 into the game. Center Derek Edwardson netted the equalizer for the Wranglers from Lee Green to make the score 1-1. Forward Adam Cracknell put the Wranglers ahead 2-1 when he scored a power-play goal from Shawn Limpright. Wranglers forward Tyler Mosienko scored his third goal of the season to give the Wranglers a 3-1 lead after the first period.

In the second period, the Salmon Kings cut the Wranglers lead to 3-2 when Daryl Lloyd snuck the puck past Kevin Nastiuk just 2:28 into the period. Victoria's Milan Gajic scored his third goal of the season at 6:25 of the third to tie the game at three. Wes Goldie scored at 9:23 to give the Salmon Kings a 4-3 lead. Wranglers forward Steve Crampton countered back for the Wranglers just three minutes later to tie the game at 4-4.

The Salmon Kings scored the game-winning goal 3:38 into the overtime period to give Victoria the 5-4 win. Guenette set up David Wrigley to cap off a two-on-one breakaway.
