Goodbye Garnett, Hello Masters

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned Chicago Wolves goaltender Michael Garnett to the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL, while the Wolves have signed netminder Tyler Masters to a professional tryout contract.

Masters has recorded a 7-15-1 mark, a 3.25 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage in 25 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. The Calgary, Alberta, native was named the Cyclones rookie of the month in November (2-1-0 record, 2.00 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage) and December (2-1-1 record, a 2.45 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage).

Last season, the 24-year-old rookie posted a 2-13-1 mark with a 4.46 goals-against average and a .881 save percentage during his senior campaign with Bowling Green State University of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Overall, Masters registered a 38-63-9 mark, a 3.08 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage in 115 games with Bowling Green spanning four seasons (1999-2003).

Garnett has recorded a 6-3-2-0 mark with a 2.68 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in 12 games with the Wolves this season.

The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native shares sixth in the ECHL with a 2.27 goals-against average in 29 games with Gwinnett. Garnett has posted an 18-9 mark and a .919 save percentage with the Gladiators this season.
