Barnes and Myrvold rejoin Griffins

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday announced that the Detroit Red Wings have assigned left wing Ryan Barnes and defenseman Anders Myrvold (AN-duhrs MYOOR-vohld) to the American Hockey League club.

Barnes, 24, was recalled to the parent club on March 14. He played in the second NHL game of his career against the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on March 21. In his two NHL games, Barnes has no stats while averaging 2:22 of ice time. Barnes has 17 points (5-12-17) and 158 penalty minutes in 62 games as a Griffin this season.

The 28-year-old Myrvold has played in eight games with the Red Wings this season. He was recalled for his second stint with the club on March 17. He has an assist and two penalty minutes with the Red Wings. This season, Myrvold is second among the Griffins' defensemen with 18 assists in 63 outings with the Griffins.

Both Barnes and Myrvold are expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Griffins visit the E Center to play the Utah Grizzlies at 9:05.
