Goaltender Szuper Reassigned to Worcester (AHL)

Peoria, Ill. (February 17, 2004) – Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that fourth-year goaltender Levente Szuper – on a two-way contract with the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Worcester IceCats – has been reassigned to the AHL club.

Since opening the 2003-2004 campaign with a 0-3-1 record, a 4.53 goals against average (GAA) and a .818 save percentage for the Rivermen, Szuper – a 5-foot-11, 175-pound native of Budapest, Hungary – has posted an 11-2-0 record with a 1.98 GAA and a .929 save percentage over his last 13 starts with one shutout (the ninth of his career). On the season, he has an 11-5-1 mark with a 2.52 GAA and a .907 save percentage.

On two separate occasions, Szuper has seen limited action in three games with the IceCats, posting a 4.53 GAA and a .821 save percentage.

Szuper was signed by Worcester during the 2002-2003 offseason after spending three years in the Calgary Flames organization with the Saint John Flames (AHL). The 23-year-old has a 43-46-9 career record with Saint John with a 2.50 GAA and a .903 save percentage. He was selected by Calgary in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

On Tuesday, February 17, the Rivermen face off against the rival Johnstown Chiefs in the second of two in a row between the clubs. Game time is 6:00 p.m. CT at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena. The Peoria Rivermen are a member of the ECHL – America's Premier "AA" Hockey League.
