
Reading's Hamerlik Named ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Reading goaltender Peter Hamerlik is the ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week for February 9-15.
Under contract to Boston of the National Hockey League, Hamerlik was 4-0-0 with a 1.25 goals against average and a .963 save percentage as Reading improved to 28-15-7 and fourth place in the Northern Division.
Selected in the third round (84th overall) by Pittsburgh in the 2000 NHL
Entry Draft and in the fifth round (153rd overall) by Boston in the 2002
NHL Entry Draft, Hamerlik made 32 saves in a 4-2 win against Trenton on
February 11 and had 32 saves in a 6-1 win at Dayton on February 13. Born in
Myjava, Slovakia, Hamerlik had 40 saves in a 6-1 win against Johnstown on
February 14 and made 25 saves in a 4-1 win against Cincinnati.
Assigned to Reading by Providence of the American Hockey League on January
14, the 22-year-old Hamerlik is 6-1-1 with a 1.91 goals against average and
a .938 save percentage in nine games with Reading. He began the season in
Augusta and was 1-5-1 with a 3.82 goals against average and a .891 save
percentage in eight games with the Lynx. He also appeared in three games
with Providence going 1-1-1 with a 1.91 goals against average and a .939
save percentage.
In 2002-03, Hamerlik was 2-1-1 with a 3.35 goals against average and a
.874 save percentage in five games with Cincinnati of the ECHL and 0-0-1
with a 3.69 goals against average and a .909 save percentage in one game
with Providence.
Runners Up: Mike Valley, Peoria (2-0-0, 1.50 GAA, .939 save pct.)
and Andrew Allen, Trenton (2-1-0, 2.01 GAA, .945 save pct.).
